BRAIN BUILDING FEEDBACK
For neurodivergent children and teenagers in Sydney and online.
Helping you navigate explaining testing results and diagnoses to your child, so you know they understand their amazing brain!
Imagine a world where children leave their assessment with a positive, empowerirng understanding of their differences, and a grasp on what to do about it. Imagine having a world where neurodivergent children are proud of their differences. We have the power to change a child’s narrative from the beginning, from “I’m dumb”, to “my brain works in an awesome different way!”.
If we do nothing the child will develop their own narrative and it is not likely to be positive. Children should not have to wait until adulthood to understand that they are not broken.
HOW IT WORKS
Step One
Contact us at hello@heartandmindpsychology.org to book a session and choose a time that works for you. We recommend in person sessions, however telehealth is available upon request.
Step Two
The brain building process starts before your first session. You will receive an online handout for you to explain testing to your child. This language sets the frame for the work we’ll do together, so that children come in curious about understanding their brain.
Step Three
A series of three sessions will focus on themes that build understanding, confidence and tools for your child’s unique success. We will establish a growth mindset and work through individual challenges. More details are below.
OUR APPROACH
Here at H&M, our psychologists are passionate about working with neurodivergent children and teens. Through Brain Building Feedback we’ll help your child develop strategies to understand their brain, and provide guidance and language for explaining testing results to your child or teen.
Explaining testing results to kids is tricky… our psychologists can help using Dr Liz Angoff’s Brain Building Book and our expertise in child development and therapy. Our feedback sessions can be an empowering, engaging, lifechanging experience for the children and families that we work with.
